A creative/accountant type. Hmmm.... isn't that a bit of an oxymoron? I should know... that's me, too. ;-)

Although I only skimmed your article (because I don't have to do the taxes), it looked like some great advice! You are such a multi-talented woman!

I have my accounting degree, but I have yet to actually take the test. I would much rather do something creative, but I love numbers a lot and errors and challeneges. (as long as I don't make the errors)

Here is what I learned about starting a creative business: learn to delegate. I'm pretty good with household bookkeeping. But when we started our business, there was so much to learn and do--website, booth design, product development, photography, on and on. So I TRIED to do Quickbooks. Really, I did try. I even understand double-entry bookkeeping. So I hired a CPA to "train" me in Quickbooks. Then I asked how much it would cost for me to have her do the whole thing. She charged the same per hour to train me, or do it herself. No hard decision. Once a month I turn everything over to her. Best business decision we ever made.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! That's just the article I needed! Perfect! Thanks for taking the time to post it.

Oh my gosh, I thought you were joking. An accountant?! You have WAY too much personality for that. Thank goodness you did the small biz thing. Obviously it's working for you.

P.S. I'm looking forward to reading all your posts on Modish. New tips are always helpful.
