Two Chairs, One Winner

Susan was another Glamour Giveaway winner and Freshnest Design redesigned her living room for her.  Here is what they envisioned.

 

And here is what we made at jcaroline home.

I love the little dash of apple green to break up the brown/natural monotony.  The chair fabric is Earth Beads with pillows in Earth Stacks.  If they were my chairs, I would probably stain the legs a dark brown to help "anchor" the chair.  Nothing complicated, I would just throw some stain on a rag and go to it.  Then again, I would also probably get stain on the covers and be very upset.

And if you had always wanted to know what your home would look like with barn red outdoor siding on the walls and a bare concrete floor, now you know.  I just didn't have the energy to drag the chairs to a nice grassy spot, so outside the office had to do.

And for the winner of the Cloud9 bundle, it's LisaB!  She commented  "The downside to fabric this beautiful is that it is hard to find a project that seems worthy! Forget baby, I'd make something for me! =)".  So enjoy making something for yourself, Lisa!

Stephanie's Room Redo

You may remember, oh, about half a year ago, I teamed with Deb and Erin at Fresh Nest Design and Flor Carpet Tiles to do Glamour Giveaway.  The winners were given two chairs, four throw pillows, one large floor pillow and one large ottoman from jcaroline home.  Flor Carpet Tiles provided a 5" x 7" area rug.  Well, the winners were notified in March and Deb and Erin asked the winners questions about their spaces and their decorating styles and then recommended what items they should put in their existing spaces.

Fresh Nest designed Stephanie's living room/dining room around a cool piece of art she already had.  Here is what Fresh Nest mocked up for Stephanie.

I adore Jessica Jones fabric (obviously!), and I didn't expect this combination to be so awesome.  I'm quite smitten with this group.

And this exercise with the Glamour winners has convinced me that I have been unfair.  I have not treated solids as equal to prints, and I apologize.  I just assume everyone is like me and wants 85 prints in their room, but that, apparently, is not that case.  So I've moved solids up to their rightful place in jcaroline home, where they can be used as the base for any of our chair covers or pillows.

Inspirations Added to Jcaroline Home

I don't know if this is what I should have been working on Friday, but I spent all day on these pages and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I love picking out paint colors!  And I can't guarantee I'm good at it, but it at least gives you a starting point!

My fantasy would be to pick out paint colors every month, paint one wall and make someone else finish and clean up and then the next month we would start again.  I wonder if the walls would actually get thicker if you repainted that often?  In theory, I think they would, so would you have to scrape them down after awhile?  Hmmm.....

Oh-- and we added the Henriksdal Chair Cover and the Henriksdal Barstool Cover to the site as well.  Look how great it looks in this Black Tunisia fabric.

Jcaroline Home has covers for the Harry Chair

We just added the chair cover for the Ikea Harry Chair to the jcaroline home website.  The Harry Chair is a fairly new addition to the Ikea lineup.  It has a slimmer profile than their other padded dining chair, the Henriksdal chair, so it fits better in small dining spaces.  (And never fear, the Henriksdal cover is in the works!)  I especially love it in the new fabric we just added to the site, Turquoise Henna.  A nice mix of turquoise, deep green, deep orange on a linen background.  Sophisticated without being boring.  (You DIYer's-- that fabric is also available on jcaroline creative here.)

I noticed while at Ikea yesterday, that the Poang chair is now available as a rocker as well.

And it uses the same covers as the Poang chair, so you could do some really cool covers for your nursery!  A Poang cover we've been making a lot of lately is out of the Licorice Emilio fabric.  I think it looks pretty awesome myself.

 

And it can be paired with the Licorice Alisa fabric to make a darling Tullsta chair as well.

For those of you that have never heard the term "hack", it is used to describe the personalization of mass-produced pieces.

It's like the Times has been reading my mind...

This personalized piece is the Ikea Tullsta chair slipcovered in Jessica Jones' awesome Spa Fireworks fabric.  You can buy the fabric and make your own, or buy the slipcover ready to put on.  Or you can continue to live with that chair you don't like, but that would not be my recommendation. :)

JCaroline Home Launched!

Okay, so I've been up to something... The new website www.JCarolineHome.com is officially open for business. 

Over there we are selling pillows, ottomans, slipcovers and the like for you non-sewers or sewers who don't have the time.  Of course, we are featuring Jessica Jones' fabrics and some other Braemore and P/Kaufman canvas prints.  We currently offer 24 fabrics to choose from with 12 solid cording choices.

And we plan to add more items, such as curtains, shower curtains, duvet covers, crib sets, as we "mature".

So, please go check it out.  And if you find a typo or something that doesn't work, please let me know.  I is me own prooofreadr.
