You may have heard a rumor that I was at the International Quilt Market last weekend. The rumor that I had a scooter is untrue, however. Our little booth did win best new exhibitor. That was fun, since I thought it was super cute and I'm glad other people thought so as well. Jessica Jones designed it, my husband and two of our friends built the structure and I painted and decorated (with the help of more friends and employees). What a team!
Market was good. Working a booth is way more tiring than attending the show. I think I like the other way better-- the hours are shorter.
Had the Fabric 2.0 Party Friday night. Big success, if I say so myself. You'll see lots of pictures of me peppering the web and to answer your concerns, yes I do look that bad. Especially in pictures. A friend described one of the pics as "I looked like Mr. Ed". Diane at Bee Square Fabrics does a nice write-up about it. She refers to me as an "expert in this field". I take that to mean an expert at throwing a party. Or maybe just having fun at a party. Anyway, we had great attendance and people really mingled and met new bloggers-- which was the intent. Thank you to Kathy at Michael Miller Fabrics, Lissa at Moda Fabrics and Christina at Etsy who helped make it happen.
I'll share my pictures and news over the next few days. I don't want to wear you out immediately. Here is some more eye candy from the booth.
Portia from Perdoozy sent us that darling apron for the show and her friend from BlueBlossomGirl sent the bag on the wall. Darling!
The ribbons in the frame are Patty Young's new Andalucia ribbons that coordinate with her new fabric line for Michael Miller. The fabric and ribbon are both tremendous and she got a great response at market. Go Patty! The ribbons will be added to the web in a couple of days, I promise! (Yes, that is a black plastic frame from Ikea, which I spray painted beige.)
Wow! This is beautiful! Sounds like an extraordinary time & you definitely had a gorgeous booth. I've enjoyed reading about the market on all the blogs. Thanks for sharing these pictures- very inspiring!

Very inspiring to say the least. Your booth is such a happy space - just right for Jessica's fabrics! Thank you for all that you've done (and do) to kick things up in this industry - it affects all of us in a good, good way!

Your booth was indeed totally AWESOME! No better way to describe it. :-) Everyone did such a wonderful job on their part of it.
I hope you're having a quieter week and can get rested up from the last couple. You DO deserve a break now and then. ;-)
P.S. Let me know if there's anything I can do about those "bugs". ;-)

I think that black wastebasket in the corner is what really made the booth truly Awesome.

Not only are you the crafting/sewing/quilt industry expert - you ARE the party throwing expert as well. Thank you so much for putting that fun evening together. I had a wonderful time and really enjoyed connecting with everyone in person.
In a trade show that was so visually overwhelming, your booth offered a moment of serenity with its calm beautiful design. Congratulations on your award, it is well deserved.
Best,
Diane

Just found your site and blog through decor8 and really have enjoyed both. I've started sewing again and though it's not a craft I'm very good at I still try. I'm amazed how it inspires my own art - that's been a cool new discovery. You're blog has been added to my inspiration link list. Thanks for inspiring me on a Sunday morning - and LOVE your booth - congrats on your first show - hope it was successful.
